Salut azerothiens!

Dans cet article j'aborderais trois points importants du métier de pêcheur pour vous permettre d'optimiser votre progression, tout en tirant un certain bénéfice des heures de pêche. Les voici donc:
-Monter votre pêche.
-Astuces.
-L'équipement du pêcheur.

I_ Monter la compétence de pêche.

En fait il n'y a pas trente-six moyens de monter sa pêche.. Le plus basique est, comme vous vous l'imaginer, de passer des heures à remonter du poisson. Encore qu'il y a manière à optimiser le rendement de poissons, que j'expliquerais dans "astuces". La seconde ne permet pas une énorme montée de compétence, puisqu'il s'agit de faire une quête par jour.

1. La Pêche par la Pêche.

Dans un premier temps il vous faudra trouver un Maître des Pêcheurs pour apprendre la compétence, on en trouve un petit peu partout à proximité des côtes ou des rivières. Après avoir appris la technique "Pêche" il vous faudra trouver une canne pour exercer vos talents. Pour finir, mettez vous en face d'un point d'eau et commencez à pêcher.
Jusqu'au niveau 100 environ, un poisson remonté donne un point d’expérience, avant de, petit-à-petit, ne délivrer un point d’expérience que sur un poisson péché sur dix. Autant dire que vous n'êtes pas prêt d'arriver au niveau 525... Mais ne désespérez pas! Il existe un moyen, moins rapide, certes, mais aussi moins long.
A savoir cependant que vous gagnerez autant d’expérience dans une zone plus bas niveau que dans une de niveau plus élevé.

2. Les quêtes journalières.

Avec Cataclysm sont arrivés les quêtes journalières de pêche dans les capitales. Ces quêtes faisable uniquement une fois par jour, rapporte entre un et deux points de pêche en récompense ainsi qu'un sac de trucs brillants ... Ce n'est pas énorme, mais étant donné qu'on y passe prés de 5 minutes par jour, autrement dit moins qu'un niveau dans la nature à partir du niveau 300, vous passerez proportionnellement moins de temps à xp de cette manière.
Voici les différentes quêtes que vous pouvez achever.

Pour la Horde:
-Des efforts stupéfiants, un point,
-Une occasion en or, un point,
-Une prise furieuse, un point,
-À la pêche aux palourdes, lourdes, lourdes…, un point,
-Des efforts stupéfiants, deux points.

Pour l'Alliance:
-Les homards des rochers, un point,
-Le doré jaune, un point,
-Les chutes du Tonnerre, un point,
-Une grande goulée, un point,
-Un ver, ça va. Trois vers…, deux points.

II_ Les Petites Astuces

1. Compétence de pêche supérieure.

Il existe de nombreux objets qui permettent d'augmenter sa compétence de pêche de manière temporaire ou permanente. Mais que est l'intérêt d'utiliser ces bonus?
Et bien deux raisons sont à privilégier: pêcher dans une zone de niveau égal où inférieur permet de récolter des poissons et/ou objets de qualité normale ou plus, et non pas des objets gris comme ces maudits fils de pêche emmêlés. La seconde raison nous intéresse plus, elle permet de réduire le temps (en théorie) d'attente avant qu'un poisson ne morde à l'hameçon. Ce qui permet un meilleur rendement.

2. Appâts.

Les appâts sont les améliorations temporaires de base, en accrochant une succulente bestiole à votre hameçon vous avez plus de chances d'attirer un joli poisson.
Voici une petite liste de buff croissante:
-Verroterie rutilante, 25 points,
-Oeil de poisson aquadynamique, 50 points,
-Asticot (butin), 75 points,
-Verroterie, 75 points,
-Ver mangeur de chair, (butin), 75 points,
-Appât à plumes (crée par la compétence cuisine), 100 points,
-Attracteur de poissons aquadynamique, 100 points,
-Hameçon aiguisé (récompense de quête), 100 points,
-Ver luisant (récompense de quête), 100 points.

3. Buffs de compétence.

Même si les appâts sont les plus connus, il existe d'autre moyen de doper sa compétence de pêche, des potions, boissons, et autres objets le permettent aussi. En voici quelques uns.

Buff temporaires:
-Brune du Capitaine Rumsey, 10 points pendant 3 minutes,
-Transformation en Kalu'ak (effet aléatoire, et uniquement utilisable dans Dalaran), 75 points pendant 10 minutes,

Buff permanents:
-Ligne de pêche en vrai-argent filé (récompense de quête), 3 points,
-Ligne de pêche à toute épreuve en éternium (récompense de quête), 5 points,
-Enchantement de gants (mineur), 2 points,
-Enchantement de gants (majeur), 5 points.

III_ L'équipement du pêcheur

Certains objets vous permettent également d'augmenter votre compétence de pêche, de plus ou moins grande importance, il sont un atout indispensable pour votre paisible activité.

1. Cannes à pêche.

Vous auriez tort de vous promener pour toujours avec votre petit canne à pêche de débutant, alors qu'il existe de nombreuses autres cannes, de bonne qualité, supérieure, voir même épiques. Je ne citerais que les cannes rajoutant plus de 15 points de compétence, car vous me l'accorderez, tant qu'à avoir une bonne canne à pêche, autant faire les choses bien..
-Canne à pêche en sombrebois, 15 points,
-Grande canne à pêche en fer, 20 points,
-FC-5000 de Nat Pagle, pêcheur de l'extrême, 20 points,
-Canne à pêche de Seth en graphite, 20 points,
-Canne à pêche porte-bonheur de Nat, 25 points,
-Canne à pêche en os, 30 points,
-Canne à pêche ornée de joyaux, 30 points,
-La mythique canne à pêche kalu'ak magnifique, 30 points,
-Canne à pêche en arcanite, 40 points.

2. Le reste de l'équipement.

Après les cannes, voici le dernier must du métier... Le stuff du pêcheur, une tenue intégrale pour être tout beau pour pêcher.

-Le chapeau: au choix, le chapeau du pêcheur chanceux, ou le chapeau de pêche déformé (qui permet d'accrocher un appât sur votre canne).
-La salopette: la salopette bleue, pour le charme.
-Les bottes: les bottes de pêche extrême de Nat Pagle pour pas se mouiller les pieds.

Et voilà, vous êtes fin prêt pour passer vos journées à pêcher des petites bestioles visqueuses à la forte odeur. Félicitation. Allez, un dernier un conseil, pour éviter de péter un câble devant votre écran voici quelques idées: inviter un pote et le faire bosser pour vous, téléphoner à votre grand-mère ou à une copine bavarde, écouter le tout dernier album de votre groupe préféré.. Personnellement ce que j'affectionne le plus ce sont les podcast ayant pour thème WoW: WoWtaku, Les Chroniques du Père Bugli, Azeroth.fr ou encore les excellentes émissions de MamyTwink.

As a Level 80, I find it's most efficient to camp somewhere peaceful and relaxing (meaning devoid of pesky Alliance to interrupt me) and queue for Battlegrounds or Heroics. Since either of these take anywhere between 10 and 20 minutes to pop, I can get a decent session of fishing in between, without having the boredom factor drive me insane.

i suggest if you are a fisher, untill you have the whole 1000 fish achievement, pick up everything that drops, thats right everything.
also, if you want to get 450 fishing and wouldnt mind a little money too, go into wailing caverns and just outside the portal theres a big pond thing, just sit there for hours fishing, because dropped from there are uncooked deviate fish, if you can make them into savory deviate delight, then great! cook them and add a 10g for each stack, if not then just either sell them as that, or get a cook who has the very rare savory deviate recipe and get them to cook them all, i suggest before you go there, bank everything apart from a hearth stone, because, depending on your inventory size you will need a bit more than 1 inventory full, so in order to not have to run around, i suggest anything as big as a frostweave bag or bigger, 4 of them and you wont have to come back. Does anyone know if, at level 450, there is any benefit at all to fishing buffs like the +30 Kalu'ak pole and the Fishing hats etc? I currently use them more out of habit than anything but it could save me hassle if it wasn't needed.

There used to be enchants, which increased fishing skill (like gatherer enchant on gloves - hope I remembered name well). Couldn't find any info about them in the fishing sections. Do You have any info bout them? I missed 1,5 years of playing WoW so I missed quite a lot happenings. = )

It is my understanding that as of patch 3.3, your fishing skill has no affect on your chance / speed of catching fish. It is only for items that require a certain skill level to use (poles, etc).

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

While leveling an alt's fishing skill from 1 to 75, I found that it is more profitable to fish without a lure in pools that are above your skill. The grey items you catch this way vendor for more than actual fish.

For those of you who are curious about how many fish it will take to go from 1-525 here's some help.

1-101 (100 total)
101-126 (50 total)
126-151 (75 total)
151-176 (100 total)
176-201 (125 total)
201-226 (150 total)
226-251 (175 total)
251-276 (200 total)
276-301 (225 total)
301-326 (250 total)
326-351 (275 total)
351-376 (300 total)
376-401 (325 total)

Which sums up to a grand total of 4316 fish. This is a preety rouch estimate due to decimal issues but anywhere between 4300 and 4500 is what you should be expecting.

Currently there is bug for fishing in Uldum. Occasionly it will make you in combat right after you caught a fish.

Perhaps it shows the attitude of fishing from Blizzard.

The most efficient way of leveling fishing must be what I did back in TBC, offer a broke friend (preferably one who is not playing WoW because they know...) a few 6-packs of the strongest beer you can find, have him get one each time he levels 15 skillpoints. This will:

1: Make the person enough affected by the alcohol by 100 skillpoints that he/she actually can withstand the boredom.
2: After this he/she will probably want more til they pass out, switch to a slightly lighter beer to keep them awake, mix with a glass of water in between every beer and keep doing that til' you hit the skillpoint you agreed upon. Some money always helps too. And music. Talking too. ANYTHING. Have a few beers yourself aswell, since watching this is painful for both mind and soul.

Today i hit 525.....from 500 to 525 took 250 fish, 10 per point. Obviously WoW has nerfed fishing. Throw the old formula away.

Can you do more than one fishing daily a day? ( on horde side) My boyfriend, on an ally toon, was able to do 4-5 a day. I've been able to do only one. Does it depend on your fishing level?

Yes you can. There is a fishing daily in Org. Also one in Dal, and one in the outlands that I know of. There probably is one in Undercity as well. The fishing daily in Org give you a +1 fishing skill when complete

So I have noticed that if you fish in the "pools" you will catch that type of fish; even if your skill is 1! Nice since I'm fishing up Highland Guppy on my Lock with a skill of 54 :P

I think they may have changed fishing skill ups in patch 4.3 a little. I was just working on skilling up an alt's fishing and I gained 5 points in about 6 minutes. Before the patch it was taking me around 15 - 20 minutes to get 5 points. My skill level is 430 as of writing this post.

I might be wrong, it might have just been a fluke, but it was such a pronounced increase that I suspect there's something else going on here.

For those people wanting some current information:

I just leveled 4 (lvl 53) Hordes from 350 to 425. Two were on Drak'thul and two were on Shandris. Each used 5-100 add lures and 4-75 add lures, in that order, keeping the skill level between 450 and 500. All four were fished at the same spot in Feralas. Each toon took 1.5 hours and caught 300 items. That's an average of 4 catches per skill, not the old tried and true number of 12.5 average (11 to 14).

At least here, Blizz has nerfed MY fishing by 68%, from 281 minutes to just 90.

Another way i would advise fishing is to put WoW in windows mode, shrink it and then put it on the side and open a youtube video but afterward make ur WoW the main screen and just click the fishing bob when there is a catch.
Youtube doesn't require the screen to be the main to have sound but WoW does so you can watch whatever you want while just click the bob when the sound appears

Why can I not see any fishing dailies available in Undercity? Is it something based off of reputation? I have all the fishing dailies done for Thunder Bluff and Org, but I cannot seem to find any available in Undercity. Any clues or ideas?

What's unfortunate about the fishing profession is that higher skill levels have zero affect on your casting accuracy when harvesting schools of fish. It's a bit ridiculous on occassion when you can cast 10 times before landing your bobber in the school, even though you're an Illustrious Grand Master fisherman.

A good paring for fishing is to advance cooking at the same time. It makes both less tedious as you will be searching the specific fishing spots and recipes to advance both. Talk to fishing supply/trainer NPCs as they usually have good recipes and keep your cooking training up to date.

Also don't forget to fish the pools. You can catch some good fish and other things. The chance of catching the rare fish is greater also in the pools and you can target specific fish based on the pool name. The debris are even better as you can fish up an assortment of containers that can be very profitable with what they contain. Some fish are used by alchemists such as Bouche-noire huileux Oily Blackmouth.

And don't forget your dailies. They are a good source of xp and cash. I don't play horde so I am unfamiliar with their dailies but you can earn good pocket change and xp in Stormwind, Darnassus and Ironforge. In addition you can get 3 achievements out of it if you complete the 5 different dailies in each area.

Ok, forget what I said above. Blizzard is now giving away cooking and fishing. Just get to 85 (or 86 to be safe) and go to the Valley of the Four Winds, specifically Halfhill. There you can fish up lots of carp to get your fishing up which can then be used to do the basic Pandarin cooking to get to 525 cooking. There is a new fishing trainer to the east by the bridge and a cooking trainer by the market.

TL;DR fishing guide:

Start in your major city. Train fishing. Fish until 75. Train at skill 75 to increase the maximum skill to 150. Fish all the way up to 150 in your major city.
Travel to Booty Bay and purchase Expert pêcheur - Vous et la perche from Old Man Heming for 1g. Old Man Heming is located on the bottom level of Booty Bay near the docks. Can be learned as early as Fishing Skill 125. Must be level 20. Will increase your Fishing Skill cap to 225.
Stay in Booty Bay and increase your Fishing Skill to 225.
Head to Dustwallow Marsh. Get the Nat Pagle, pêcheur de l'extrême quest from Nat Pagle. MUST be 225 Fishing and minimum level 35. Level 45 recommended. Probably fine to complete the quest a little lower than 45.
Fish up the quest fish required for the Nat Pagle quest. (Click the quest link above for exact coordinates for each quest fish listed below)
Turn in the quest. Fish in any of the following zones to max your fishing skill at 300! Felwood, Feralas, The Hinterlands, Moonglade, Tanaris, Un'Goro Crater, Western Plaguelands.

For those of you fishing in a major city, you need to get to skill level 50 to nearly guarantee you will hook all bites, and skill level 75 to ensure 100% catch rate.

In Stormwind, my fishing rates were:
~63% Raw Longjaw Mud Snapper
~35% Raw Bristle Whisker Catfish
~30% Raw Brilliant Smallfish
~1% Lesser Healing Potion
~1% 17 Pound Catfish

In Booty Bay, my fishing rates were:

~56% Rockscale Cod
~18 Spotted Yellowtail
~12% Firefin Snapper
~12% Oily Blackmouth
~1% Sturdy Locked Chest
~1% Mithril Bound Trunk

What am I doing wrong? I am trying to cast my fishing pole and nothing happens. I equipped myself...nope...I hot-keyed my pole...nope. What does one do to CAST the bloody thing in the water?

I'm (currently) a 49 holy human priest, playing on Razorgore EU, pvp realm. I have my fishing maxed out at 300 and use Canne à pêche solide. I use a normal steed and Carotte et bâton to run. I fish alot (ALOT) in stranglethorn vale. I will fish every pool at the southern savage coast and the crystal shore. I thought for the fun of it I will keep track of what I've fished today.
I did 2 rounds today starting point: 1, end point: 4 and restarting at 1, ending up at 4 before going to booty bay to check out my loot (I have added a screenshot of how my regular route looks like). I did not aggro anything and didn't engage in PVP combat (although I would scare of the lower levels fishing in a floating wreckage). I didn't think alot of other people were fishing but sometimes it felt like pools were missing. This run took me about 1h30min. This is what I got:

I fished in the following pools: (round 1 - round 2)
- Banc d'anguilles pierre-écaille: 3 - 4
- Banc de lutjans de nagefeu: 7 - 7
- Petit banc de bouches-noires huileux: 10 - 3
- Débris de la Voile sanglante: 3 - 4

I got a total of:
- Anguille pierre-écaille: 21
- Lutjan de nagefeu: 41
- Bouche-noire huileux: 51
- Malle cerclée de mithril: 27 (12: 7 - 4 fished in non floating wreckage pools)
- Etouffante: 15
- Rhum de Rumsey label noir: 10

Out of my Malle cerclée de mithril I got the following:
- 42 silver 76 copper
- 11 Potion de soins excellente
- 9 Potion de mana supérieure
- 11 Rouleau de tisse-mage
- 6 Rouleau d'étoffe runique
- 39 Cuir épais
- 19 Cuir robuste
- Lame d'effroi of agility
- Grèves de champion of the falcon
- Pansière chromite
- Destructeur de bataille of agility
- Jambières gothiques en plaques of the eagle

On a sidenote, one time you are more lucky with what you get than other times :)!

5+ catches a point now.
The diminishing returns usually are more gradual, but this started

For the fishing enthusiast that wants to train Fishing from 150 (available at 125) to 300 while leveling in Azeroth before they get to Outland, this is for you.

Fishing 1-75, and 76-150 can be learned from your local fishing trainer, as you know.

To go beyond 150, you will need to acquire Expert pêcheur - Vous et la perche from Vieil Heming in Baie-du-Butin. Vieil Heming is available to both Alliance and Horde. You can also check the Auction House for this item, but for the true fisherman (fisher-woman?), the journey is a part of the fun.

To level your Fishing Skill past 225, you will need to complete the quest Nat Pagle, pêcheur de l'extrême from Nat Pagle. For this quest to appear, you need to have Fishing at 225 and be level 35. It is one of the best quests in the game, IF you enjoy fishing. Note, while in Désolace to catch the Frappeur de Sar'theris, you should also grind out the Grande canne à pêche en fer.
