Dress for Luxurious Success: Gearing Your Bank Alt

Masque de bandit elfe de sang, an imperial mask, drops from Bandit elfe de sang, a spy hidden on Île de Brume-Azur. (Horde, don’t be discouraged—he’s hostile to you as well.) He has roughly a 20% chance to drop the mask, but respawns almost instantly.

Monocle de noble is obtained from Sac de trésors de pêche, a reward for completing any of the Shattrath fishing dailies, which require lvl 70. While it’s roughly a 1% chance from the Bag of Fishing Treasures, these fishing dailies can also give you some other fun vanity gear, such as Chapeau de jungle endommagé. However, if you’re impatient to look sophisticated, consider getting either Monocle de joaillier en rubis, Monocle de joaillier en saphir, or Monocle de joaillier en ambre from your favorite Jewelcrafter.

Another sophisticated option is Haut-de-forme du seigneur Walden, but it can only be obtained by worgen in their starting zone. However, the hat remains if you race-change. Hopefully, Haut-de-forme de la bonne société will be implemented one day for the rest of us.

Demonstrate your knowledge of the arcane by scheduling a visit to the haberdasher with Chameli Banaphash. Decide between Turban violet and Chapeau pourpre.

Lunettes de soleil rubis is the ultimate luxury helm for your bank alt. Formerly sold by Haris Pilton in Shattrath, this periodically resurfaces on the AH for a hefty amount. Grab one to show everyone how wealthy you are. If you want the cheap knockoff, have an engineer make either Lunettes authentiques d'ingénieur subalterne for bonus flavor text or Lunettes des ombres, Lunettes de tigre volant, or Lunettes teintées vertes for the perfect tint. Unfortunately, Lunettes de soleil en strass were never put into the game for extra blingee.

While Burgy Cœur-Noir may be a level 81 dancing ghost and pirate, his spoils, Burgy Blackheart's Handsome Hat, can be looted by everyone in the party—no matter the level. Use your connections to get a first-class summon to Vash’jir when a good friend or associate spots the mob. This item turns you into a spectral pirate gnome. If you prefer fishing to swimming, try your luck at the in the hopes of getting Scalaire de Keefer to redeem into Chapeau du pêcheur chanceux.

New to 4.1 is the Couronne ternie, a BoE reward for completing Une récompense sonnante et trébuchante.

Amulets

Eskrokar solves all your needs. Want to be better, stronger, faster? Griftah has the perfect tikbalang just for you, from Savon au bout d'une corde to Talisman Trouveur de Trésors Tangibles.

Cordon de dents d'alligator is found in Sac des trucs brillants, a reward from the Cataclysm fishing dailies. Originally just a trash item, it’s been changed recently to be equippable.

A tip from commenter Yuoflim: make your voice heard with Modulateur d'amplification vocale, made by engineers. It’s both stylish and practical!

Collier en argent terni has a 20% chance to be looted from Tombe peu profonde near Féticheur Zum'rah, the 3rd boss in Zul’Farrak. Perfect if your bank alt is an ‘antique dealer’ specializing in legacy items.

Médaillon de statut de sectateur du Crépuscule is an item used to summon Elemental Dukes in Silithus, which was part of an elaborate summoning system culminating in bosses that dropped raid-quality epics.

New to 4.1 is Collier doré, a reward from A Shiny Reward.

Shoulder

One exception is Mantelet de la fête du Feu, a reward from the Fête du Feu du solstice d'été. Turning in 100 Fleur ardente nets you this flamboyant pair of shoulders.

CloaksChestRobe râpée

Robe noire en braise-soie is the luxury robe of Cataclysm. Costing a BoP Orbe du chaos to craft, befriend a tailor that enjoys heroics. It’s both scandalizing and classy at once. Mix and match with different shirts to change the look. Tailors can create several other BoE robes: Robe noire simple, Robe blanche en laine, Robe blanche de mariée, and Jupe simple.

Robe draenique en soie are sold by Hakmud d'Argus, a Traveling Trader that rides around on Rênes de mammouth de voyage de la toundra. If you see someone mounted up, run over and buy it from him. Don’t tease Modoru like Sentinelle Sourcefraîche does; his grandmother’s robes are quite lovely.

There are several robes with unique models that drop from specific mobs in the starting zones—try collecting them all! They are Robe pourpre, Robe toile d'araignée, Robe neigeuse, Robe écarlate d'initié, and Robe légère de fèvre-mage. There's reports that some are unavailable after Cataclysm, so play the AH just to be safe. We’ll include Robe de sorcier de Dalaran as an honorary robe, even though it requires level 13, because it looks so awesome. Robe d'infirmière de Dalaran has a similar purple tint.

By far the rarest chestpiece to acquire is the Dangui de cérémonie sold by Geenia Ombresoleil in Moonglade. It’s rumored that it respawns every two months. In the meantime, you might get luckier with her other limited-supply robes: Hanbok nuptial vert and Hanbok traditionnel rouge.

Don’t want a robe? Consider one of the harnesses sold by Kiro or Sura Crin-Sauvage, or Gilet marron en lin and Veste d'Haliscan from tailoring.

Shirts

Karandonna, a stylish tribute NPC to Donna Karan, sells filigreed doublets and martial shirts in a variety of colors. They’re a bit pricey, but that’s the cost of exclusivity.
Another vendor in Dalaran, Angélique Bouteleur, sells Pansement imprégné d'antiseptique and Pansement in the First-Aid building.

Broxel Priselor, the souvenir vendor at the Argent Tournament, sells shirts commemorating each participating race.

Lisbeth Schneider is the only vendor in the game who sells Chemise jaune soutenu and Chemise noire d'apparat. Her last name means tailor in German.
Tailors are an excellent resource—they can make shirts in practically every color and style. Riche chemise violette en soie, the color of epics, is from one of the rarest patterns in the game. There’s a series of Workman and Lumberjack shirts from uncommon Northrend patterns.

There’s also several shirts that are rare drops from mobs—Chemise de matelot is one BoE that anyone cap equip.

Tabards

Tabard de soldat/Tabard d'éclaireur only cost 50 honor to purchase and Couleurs de chevalier/Héraut du Garde de pierre costs 100 honor. As a level 10, you can queue up for Battlegrounds to earn honor.

Tabard de bataille aile-argent/Tabard de bataille chanteguerre from Warsong Gulch and Tabard de bataille foudrepique/Tabard de bataille loup-de-givre from Alterac Valley can be purchased with 2,000+ honor and have no rep requirement. In the past, honor on alts was easy to acquire with Recommandation de Joug-d'hiver. However, with those removed, these tabards will take longer to acquire as they cost a good deal more than they used to.

Tabard de l'explorateur can easily be acquired by flying on a friend’s Fusée de tourisme X-53 around Northrend.

Tabards such as Tabard d'Orgrimmar are also available from Quartermasters in capital cities with no rep requirement.

If your bank alt is a mage, they can equip the Tabard du Kirin Tor from Dalaran since all mages start off friendly with the Kirin Tor.

WristPuissance des sorts

Boutons de manchette antiques en argent are another rare reward from the Bag of Fishing Treasures. By far the best option for a sophisticated alt.

Poignets aborigènes are the rarest part of the Aboriginal set, for a vibrant theme.

Brassards fantomatiques is a drop from a Tirisfal rare mob, Esprit tourmenté.

New to 4.1 are Bracelets émaillés de gemmes from A Shiny Reward. These bracers are gold with green gems, very distinctive!

HandsGants doublés de satinWaist

Ceinture en étoffe rapiécée and Ceinture tissée are only sold by Horde vendors, so Alliance players may find it whimsical.

The Goblin starting zone features several vendors that sell unique items (in name, although perhaps not in looks). Ceinture en tissu détrempé and Ceinture en cuir trempée are exclusively sold by Sally « récupération » Sablécrou. Chawg sells Ceinture tricotée de récupération.

Pants

Pantalon en lin écru or Chausses de Solliden make good blue jeans for a casual Friday look. Culotte d'Haliscan or Pantalon de smoking from Couture give a more formal appearance.

A tip from commenter TKitch: Pagne ogre déchiré may look like a Tarzan-esque loincloth, but it’s incredibly rare currently. It was looted from Monticule de poussière de Gordunni as part of the Horde-only quest Cobalt gordunni. Unfortunately, that quest is no longer around in Cataclysm, so watch the AH.

This guide mostly focuses on cloth, but Kilt primitif and Kilt primitif are striking leather kilts from Horde shaman starting-zone gear that look great with a harness. Kilt simple is a versatile skirt from Tailoring that matches most any shirt.

Feet

Several races have stylish boots as starter gear, such as Bottes de recrue, the default boots for several warrior races. Other boots can be enchanted with Vitesse mineure which will shave off seconds of running!

A perennial favorite is Sandales tricotées, available from select merchants. Chaussures habillées are also an elegant alternative.

The truly dedicated will try to win the Le tournoi de pêche kalu'ak and obtain Bottes de la baie, boots with a built-in hearth to Booty Bay. Make sure you skill up your fishing first!

As a bonus, go sit down next to Sheddle Cireluisante, the Dalaran cobbler. He’ll shine your shoes and buff you for the next hour with Chaussures brillantes, making your feet sparkle.

RingsAnneau à zircone cubiqueChevalière noble en élémentium

An easy bling fix comes from Diastème Dent-d'argent, self-titled <Bling Merchant>. He sells the classic Solitaire sans défaut, the less romantic Anneau à minuscule diamant, the unromantic Cubic Zirconia Ring, the apologetic Bague de Piffeny en argent, the flashy Le Rocher, and apt Anneau changeant poking fun at xp color bars. Several other vendors stock these rings if Gappy won’t sell you bling.

To match your Tarnished Silver Necklace, get a Anneau terni en argent from Caisse de viande, a reward for completing any of the Shattrath cooking dailies.

Curse yourself by equipping L'anneau unique, a very rare catch from fishing. Or take a traditional sentimental route with Alliance en or, once again found in the Bag of Fishing Treasures from the Shattrath dailies.

Anneau d'autorité de sectateur du Crépuscule only works for DK bank alts, but it's a very rare item from Seigneur du Crépuscule Everun, a rare mob in Silithus. Equipping this item allows you to bypass many of the elaborate steps in summoning lvl 60 raid bosses. However, the gear is obsolete, so you might as well keep it instead.

But the true mark of a bank alt connoisseur is found in the insanely expensive and limited wares of Haris Pilton. Bague dorée en éternium costs 3000g and shows your eternal love for luxury. Or buy her two Anneau d'auriculaire en saphirs for a more youthful look. The most dedicated bank alt won’t think twice before buying the Noble’s Elementium Signet—it’s the only ring in the game currently that sparkles, plus with the right reputation, you can buy it from Qixdi Beaupiqué in Booty Bay for a discount, skipping Haris and her rude ghost friend Ricole Nichie. In 4.1, there is another visible ring option, but it's BoP and you need to be 85 to complete A Shiny Reward: Black Ice.

Trinkets

By studying Ingénierie on the side, you’ll learn how to thwart mages and charm mechanicals in style. Recombobulateur mineur is learned from a schematic sold by Muserouage in Ratchet. Télécommande universelle gnome is learned from a schematic dropped by Mekgénieur Thermojoncteur and also sold by Coupebraquet Tournepignon and Voltij Rafistépingle.

A truly lucky fishing aficionado can use Hameçon du maître pêcheur, the ultimate reward from the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza. Outpace the envious crowds on the street and swim to your destination. Commenter mostpop points out that since anyone can level fishing now, a bank alt should try to pick up the Sceau de Dalaran en titane and Rat d'égout géant.

Show off your ruthlessness by farming up Grand maître de l'arène at the Gurubashi Arena. Collect 12 Maître de l'arène from the Coffre au trésor de l'arène which spawns every three hours. Pair it with Insigne de l'Alliance/Insigne de la Horde for the low price of 55 honor (via Windyote).

Weapon

Raelis Aubétoile sells an assortment of common-quality weapons more interesting than your usual starter-zone fare: Hache forgée par les Arcanes, Miséricorde forgée par les Arcanes, Masse forgée par les Arcanes, Epée courte forgée par les Arcanes, Bâton accumulateur de mana, and Arc court rigide. Maybe fish up Bouteille de vin brisée from the Sludge Fen if things get ugly or get Fourche rouillée in the DK starter zone if trade chat is unruly.

Or, you can look so absurd, your enemies will be confused and flee. Use the following zone drops: Pelle de fermier, Balai de fermier, or Pelle de mineur kobold.

If all goes wrong, dazzle your enemies with Canne à pointe de diamant, a common reward from fishing dailies. While it looks like a staff, it counts as a 1-hander so any class can equip it.

Off-hand Frills

Christi Stockton sells Verre de vin and Verre de vin rouge to complement fine dining for any occasion. Bock orné from the Bag of Fishing Dailies is good for more casual meals.

Lys de Stratholme is available from Sophie Aaren, a vendor in L’Épuration de Stratholme. Make sure to visit her before starting the event. She also sells a variety of other bouquets common to florists in capital cities such as Felicia Gump. Bouquet de roses noires is the most luxurious bouquet, but there’s a certain charm to Fleurs sauvages simples as well. Fleur de Sombrelune is a carnival offhand available from 5 bons - Fleur de Sombrelune, for when your bank alt feels like supporting the wild side.

Send those rare offhand fish you’ve caught on your main for Ça mord ! to your bank alt. Or try fishing up Vieux malin or Vieux gueule-de-fer near the AH.

Cierge magique bleu, Cierge magique rouge, and Cierge magique blanc are only available from special NPCs with the <Holiday Fireworks Vendor> tag on July 4th on US realms and September 30th on EU realms.

Like the Ruby Shades, there are several vanity off-hand frills no longer available from Shattrath vendors. Back when Griftah was briefly exiled from the Lower City for selling dubious wares, he sold Lilas de Terokkar and Fine badine complete with snarky flavor text. Keep an eye out for these on the AH.

HolidaysFête lunaire

Valadar Chantétoile sells several festive robes and pantsuits, for the cost of five Pièce des ancêtres. To an 85, it’s not very exciting, but your level 10 will need many summons or a good deal of time spent running to collect them all. Robe de fête and Habit de fête are the BoE option crafted by tailors.

De l'amour dans l'air

Robe noire ravissante, once very rare, is now the ubiquitous dress from this holiday. It’s stunning, but along with the other rewards from Boîte de robe ravissante and Boîte d'habit de soirée, perhaps too common for the discerning banker.

Le Jardin des nobles

is the perfect achievement for your bank alt. It can be completed by even a level 1, and what better title to denote generations of wealth than <the Noble>?

Robe de printemps and Robe de soirée are striking robes, Diadème du printemps is silly and overdone, Panier à œufs has a unique graphic, and Fleurs printanières is the only bouquet of flowers that can actually be equippable as a main-hand.

Fête du Feu du solstice d'été

Midsummer offers a fun holiday set: the Mantle of the Fire Festival as highlighted earlier, Habits d'été, and Sandales de l'été with a fun use. This set takes many Burning Blossoms to complete, so be diligent!

For the truly diabolic, sneak (or get summoned) into enemy cities and steal their flames to obtain the angelic Couronne de la fête du Feu from La récompense d'un voleur.

Fête des Brasseurs

Tenue de parade de la fête des Brasseurs series shows you’re not just any uptight banker. Redeem Jeton de la fête des Brasseurs from dailies to collect both sets.

While you’re sampling some brews, remember to pick up your stein of the year.
Binocles Incroyables d'Empathie Romantique Etendue de Belbi/Binocles Incroyables d'Empathie Romantique Etendue de Blix give you the buff Lunettes Cul-de-bouteille. Everyone turns into male gnomes/tauren, some in quite revealing gear. Perhaps save these for when you aren’t calculating finances.

Sanssaint

Don’t forget to trick-or-treat every hour at your favorite inn to have a chance at getting Heaume de la Sanssaint. Most of the disguises are temporary, but surely as a clever bank alt, you can create your own original costume instead of relying on a premade one.

Jour des morts

This is a short and minor holiday, but Bouquet de chrysanthèmes orange is a vibrant offhand, especially when paired with the similar Spring Flowers for dual-wielding bouquets.

Les Bienfaits du pèlerin

Give thanks for your yearly profits in Azeroth. Provide the catering for the holiday NPCs and receive the following apparel in return: Chapeau de pèlerin, Costume de pèlerin, Tenue de pèlerine, Robe de pèlerine, and Bottes de pèlerin.

Voile d'hiver

The Atours d'hiver is campy and festive, but may require many world kills to obtain the hats, which are only guaranteed drops from several high-level bosses. Still, what else are you going to do when the banks are closed on holiday? Consider obtaining the winter clothes that are taught by the opposite faction.

Armor Vendors

There are several common-quality sets unique to a faction. Jainthess Thelryn is the only vendor who sells the Light Cloth and Sun Cured sets for a traditional blood-elf look. Sally "Salvager" Sandscrew <Slightly Damp Salvage> sells Waterlogged Cloth and Drenched Leather sets and Chawg sells Recovered Knit, Salvaged Chain, and Water-Stained Leather sets in the Goblin areas.

Woven, Battered Leather, Dirty Leather, and Tattered Cloth sets are unique to Horde clothiers in a variety of both major and minor cities. For the alliance, the Cracked and Thin Cloth sets are unique. Vendors of both factions sell the Knitted, Rough Leather, and Light Mail Armor sets.

Harry « Lune-d’Argent » found in Howling Fjord sells select blood-elf starting gear. Thomas Yance patrols around Contreforts de Hautebrande d’antan and sells starting gear for several races. Lucille Castleton and other robe vendors sell distinctive robes such as Robe sobre and Robe à double couture.

One of the more useful guides, because there is no filter on Wowhead for "Item looks awesome=Yes".

In its current format the ability to browse this guide is hindered significantly because there is no "return to contents" link, or the information is not listed in tabs. The best way to make this guide easier to use for people would be to update the sections and make a Tab view for the "Items by Slot". Doing the same for view style for "Holidays" would also make it easier to browse. As an additional benefit to this is that the table of contents would drop from 29 items to 4, getting rid of a lot of wasted space at the top of the guide.

As for the content itself, amazing. I had fun running through the guide and opening new windows to see screen shots of items I had never heard of before. Masque de bandit elfe de sang is definitely a must for all you AH under-cutters!

I personally find alot of the classic tier and Dungeon sets to be rather fun to get, as well as making up some using different profession sets.

Granted this hinders the make alt, and go factor - u WILL have to level ur alt a bit (at least till about lvl 45-60) but hey, it wont take long since cata. And soon youll look spiffy, and well educated ^_^

I think you should add the Robe de la victoire as an alternative if your bank alt is a goblin. They look awesome, and my bank guy also have some glove that match the robe, aquired from the goblin starter zone.

I've dressed my Bank Alt with a lot of the items mentioned in your guide. Before I found your guide, I didn't know about the Martial shirts and just had her in a boring tux, so thank you for helping me give her back a little of her original Power Puff color. :)

I really wanted her to be able to equip the Red Wine Glass with the Diamond Cane. Unfortunately, the Cane counts as a two-handed weapon and would not allow me to equip an Off-hand with it when I tried (as commenters on other pages suggested the "2h" reference was merely a tooltip error), so I've gifted her a one-handed Diamond Hammer instead!

I think you should add Sceau d'approbation perdu de Flores under the ring section! It's a ring that drops from certain bugs in Sholazar Basin! I particularly like the text "Dripping with the juice of a particularly nasty bug."
Rumored to have a very low drop chance. This item is also very expensive on the AH, if it's even there!
