Transmog Rules

The appearance of an item will be changed while retaining its original stats. This is not permanent and can be reversed at any time--like socketing an item.

Appearances can be previewed in the Transmogrification interface. As of 5.3, you can transmog any item from your bags, bank, or void storage without the item being in your bags.

For the most part, only items that have stats can be used. If an item cannot be transmogged, it will be marked as such in Wowhead's Quick Facts, plus we have a "Transmogrifiable" filter. Legendaries can also not be transmogged.

You cannot change armor types and some weapon types. So, mutilate rogues cannot use Epée trempée chromatiquement, DKs cannot look like druids.

There are a handful of Cosmetic items added in MoP that can be transmogged onto any armor type, such as helms from the Blizzard Store.

In 5.2, you can transmog weapons to those with similar animations.--so 1H axes, maces, and swords can share. Mainhand and offhand restrictions are also removed.

Due to transmog's popularity, Blizzard keeps adding alternate ways to acquire an iconic look. Our transmog set pages update to show all items that resemble an particular set--for example, Chaperon du sorcier royal is included in Arcanist Regalia, so a Mage doesn't have to farm for Couronne d'arcaniste. This guide however just covers the standard ways you'd acquire tier set from bosses and vendors.

Acquiring Tier Gear: Raiding

Cœur du Magma is the source for your 8-piece tier 1 set.
Level 50 required to zone in.

All bosses up to Golemagg drop pieces of the Tier 1 Raid Set--2 tier items will drop per boss.

Gear is acquired through a mix of guaranteed boss drops, quest items, and reputation requirements with Progéniture de Nozdormu.
Helm: Obtain Diadème de Vek'lor/Diadème de Vek'nilash from the Twin Emperors: Empereur Vek’lor and Empereur Vek’nilash. Complete the relevant quest (e.g. La tiare de l’oracle) from Andorgos. Requires Friendly.

Shoulders: Obtain Manchettes de commandement qiraji/Manchettes de domination qiraji from Viscidus or Princesse Huhuran. Complete the relevant quest (e.g. Les protège-épaules de l'énigme) from Andorgos. Requires Neutral.

Chest: Obtain Carapace du Dieu très ancien/Carcasse du Dieu très ancien from end-boss C'Thun. Complete the relevant quest (e.g. La robe de l'énigme) from Vethsera. Requires Honored.

Legs: Obtain Peau intacte d'Ouro/Peau du Grand ver des sables from Ouro. Complete the relevant quest (e.g. Les jambières de dispensateur de mort) from Kandrostrasz. Requires Friendly.

Feet: Obtain Manchettes de commandement qiraji/Manchettes de domination qiraji from Viscidus or Princesse Huhuran. Complete the relevant quest (e.g. Les bottillons de l’oracle) from Kandrostrasz. Requires Neutral.

The three questgivers for tier gear are located in an alcove beyond The Prophet Skeram. They are only accessible once this boss has been killed.

Each quest will require a a combination of rare-quality idols and uncommon-quality scarabs. These combinations vary based on your class and item.

Idols are found in Grand coffre de scarabées, located around the Temple.

Scarabs are found in Sac de scarabées, located in both Grand coffre de scarabées and Coffre de scarabées in the 10-player Ruines d’Ahn’Qiraj.

A recent problem, due to the keyring removal, is that Greater Scarab Coffer Key no longer drop to open the chests. Fortunately, the idols and scarabs drop from trash mobs, and can be found on the AH--but this slows the collection process down a bit.

Brood of Nozdormu reputation can be earned through killing bosses in both Ahn'Qiraj instances, killing monsters inside the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj, and doing quests related to the dungeons.

Players start off at 0/36000 Hated. Getting out of Hated is the longest part of the reputation grind.

Killing trash maxes out at 2999/3000 Neutral.

Insigne de seigneur qiraji drop from every boss. Turning them in for Champions mortels, a repeatable quest, is 500 reputation each.

Completing a quest for tier gear also grants 500 reputation.

To maximize reputation, save all insignias until capping reputation via trash.

C'thun alone grants 2500 reputation.

Ancien artéfact qiraji, a rare drop from trash, begins Les secrets des Qiraji which grants 1000 reputation.

Tier 3 gear was originally obtained by raiding original Naxxramas. Every item required additional zone-wide drops to convert into wearable armor. This is the only 9-piece set.

In Mists of Pandaria, this gear was put on the Black Market Auction House, located in L’escalier Dérobé.

The items found on the BMAH are randomly generated by the server. Bidding starts at and can go up to 1 million.

Class restrictions weren't added to these armor sets, so all classes that use a particular armor type can transmogrify to these sets.

The 5-piece Tier 4 set, the first of Burning Crusade, is obtained by turning in boss-drop tokens, guaranteed drops, to vendors.

Three additional pieces were added to tier 6. As they looked nothing like the old tier, they are more generally considered to match the non-set armor that drops from random bosses. (As of 4.2, Sunwell tier 6 for warriors was changed to match the older tier 6; tier pieces for all other classes remain unchanged.)

Tier 7 is a 5-piece set based on the removed Tier 3 set from the original Naxxramas. There are multiple ways to achieve this set. In addition, there are two skins for every set: the ilvl 200 set from 10-player raids, and the ilvl 213 set from 25-player raids.

Tier 8 is a 5-piece set obtained in Ulduar, requiring level 80. There are two skins for every set: the ilvl 219 set from 10-player Ulduar, and the ilvl 226 set from 25-player Ulduar.

Emalon le Guetteur d'orage

Tier 9 is a 5-piece set obtained in L’épreuve du croisé. There are three different ilvl versions of tier 9: 232, 245, and 258. All of these versions look the same. However, Alliance and Horde sets look different.
The ilvl 232 gear can simply be purchased with Justice Points. It is sold by Aspirant Naradiel, Rafael Langrom, and Aspirant Forudir.

Trophée de la croisade is acquired on 25-player mode, as well as from the 10-player tribute chest. You will need to turn in this trophy, along with a select amount of Justice Points, to acquire ilvl 245 tier.

Coffre d'offrande de la Croisade d'argent, on 25-player heroic mode, grants ilvl 258 tokens. You can turn these into Champion Faesrol and Champion Isimode. Of course, this isn't the easiest way to acquire the tier 9 look.

Gloves and legs are also dropped by Koralon le Veilleur des flammes.

Tier 10 is a 5-piece set obtained in Citadelle de la Couronne de glace. There are three different ilvl versions of t10: 251, 264, and 277. These sets each have distinct coloration.
The ilvl 251 set can simply be purchased with Justice Points. It is sold by class vendors right inside Icecrown Citadel, as well as in Dalaran.

The ilvl 264 set can be obtained by upgrading the ilvl 251 items. You will need the item in your inventory as well as tokens like Marque de sanctification de vainqueur, which drop from Reine de sang Lana'thel, Sindragosa, Professeur Putricide, Porte-mort Saurcroc, Le roi-liche on both 10-player heroic and 25-player normal mode.

The ilvl 277 set can be obtained by upgrading the ilvl 264 items. You will need the item in your inventory as well as tokens like Marque de sanctification de vainqueur, which drop from Reine de sang Lana'thel, Sindragosa, Professeur Putricide, Porte-mort Saurcroc, Le roi-liche on 25-player heroic mode.

The ilvl 251 and 264 versions of gloves and legs are also dropped by Toravon la Sentinelle de glace.

Tier 11 is a 5-piece set obtained with Justice Points and tokens in Le bastion du Crépuscule, Trône des quatre vents, and Descente de l’Aile noire. There are two different ilvl versions, 359 and 372, that have different colors.
Helm: 359 and 372 from Nefarian.

Shoulders: 359 and 372 from Cho’gall

Chest: 0 Points de justice, heroic token from Halfus Brise-Wyrm.

Gloves: 0 Points de justice, heroic token from Gantelets du vainqueur lugubre.

Legs: 0 Points de justice, heroic token from Maloriak.

Al'Akir drops a random tier token on normal, and Essence du lugubre on heroic which can be converted into any item.

Tier 12 is a 5-piece set obtained with Valor Points and tokens in Terres de Feu. There are two different ilvl versions, 378 and 391, that have different colors.
Helm: Both versions of tokens available from Ragnaros.

Shoulders: Both versions of tokens available from Chambellan Forteramure.

Chest: 0 Points de justice, heroic token from Alysrazor.

Gloves: 0 Points de justice, heroic token from Baleroc.

Legs: 0 Points de justice, heroic token from Shannox.

Tier 13 is a 5-piece set obtained with tokens in L’Âme des dragons. There are three different ilvl versions, 384 from Looking for Raid, 397 from Normal, and 410 from Heroics, that have different colors.

These tokens are turned into tier items by Faldren Tillsdale and Jamus'Vaz.
Tokens for all slots in Looking for Raid difficulty can drop from any of the first six bosses.

Shoulders: Normal and heroic tokens from Hagara la Lieuse des tempêtes.

These armor sets have unique visual procs when casting certain spells--we've included links to Blizzard's videos documenting these effects.

This gear is initially mailed upon completion of the achievement--if you've lost it, you can buy it back from Maître des défis Soong or Maître des défis Wuli.

Challenge Mode Guide

Dungeon Set 1 used to drop from level 55+ vanilla dungeons. This was removed in Cataclysm.

In late vanilla, players could upgrade to Dungeon Set 2 through an elaborate series of quests, culminating in defeating Seigneur Valthalak. This was also removed in Cataclysm.

Replica copies of these two sets have been put back in 4.3, at the Darkmoon Faire. They all cost Prize Tickets, shown below.

For a brief period of time, players could get replica Dungeon Set 2 pieces from Battlefield Barrens, but that has been removed in 5.4.
