NICE! So according to wowhead, the shield cannot be dispelled, but it looks like the banish effect can. (Dispel Type: magic) Can anyone confirm?

Gotta love that Mana shield, completely raping my mana, while not doing anything at all, but save my life for all of 4 extra seconds.

Lets not fight about classes.

What the person above the druid said is true and fair. Make all the Engineering items user-friendly. I can understand the Force-Reactive disk, but thats totally different. A Shield and a Belt are on two different levels. Everyone can wear a belt but only, what, 3 classes? - can wear a shield.

I'm a cloth class, but lets be serious guys, this isn't for us, or at least, not for two of us and the third class just gets screwed. What I mean: Priests and Warlocks already have invincibility shields, so no go for clothies.

Let's suppose I go get John Mithril's Arena Grand Master and I have this belt and I'm a Warlock with my voidwalker out. Fight starts.

1) Sacrifice voidwalker and fight till shield ends.
2) Use the belt.
3) Fel domination, .5 sec resummon voidwalker.
4) Fight till the belt wears off, sacrifice again.
5) Fight till the sacrifice wears off, use the trinket.
6) Holy &*!@, I've been invincible for the past 2 and a half minutes.

Thats why we clothies don't get to use it. On the plus side, all those points we get in intelligence automatically will give us an edge in those 'mental battles' with the mind control cap, so chill out and quit your $%^&*ing.

Has anyone tried this in WSG while holding the flag? The banishment could prove very useful, however I'm guessing you would probably drop the flag once it happens.

I just made this belt and decided to take a small test on it. Below are two screenshots of the procedure.

as a flag carrier i'd be weary to use this, if you do drop the FLAG

I've tested this in BG's, if you are banished when carrying the flag you keep the flag while banished, and then you can keep going with it after it wears off.

This is one of the many items that make people think that the pally just bubbled. Between this, arathi basin trinket, and my real bubble, people will be like "wtf he bubbled for 30 seconds!". They generally stop attacking after you bubble =)

I'm lvl 40 and still use it. Awesome thing. The arathi talisman does about same thing with a 5 min cooldown but only last a few seconds, yet this has 30 min cooldown and gives you the shield for 10 min.
At lvl 30-39 battleground it saves you in awerage from next 10 attacks that could kill you - gives you quite a chance of HK. This should be made.

Bassically what I've gained out of all this information is that:

1. Clothies CANNOT use: It's leather (Clothies include: Mages, Priests and Warlocks).

2. Provides a shield which looks like the Priest class' Power Word: Shield that absorbs 500 damage.

3. If you're removed from the dimension you have this green aurora like a disease cloud like thing around you and you're sort-of faded out (I thought it moved you to a totally different place... Then I though as if blizzard would bother with just one item).
4. Requires 215 engineering (Which means no level but to get to 215 in engineering you require to be at lease 20) to use and only gnomish engineers can make it BUT does not require you to be one which is a plus, so, you're able to make it for your Goblin engineering friends and/or alts, etc.

5. When you DO get removed from the dimension It's basically a humanoid Banish (Which makes you immune to everything but unable to attack) which some undead in Scholomance can cast. This effect is what I would classify better then the actual effect this belt was made for, as a Warlock/Hunter with their pets.(Too bad a warlock can't use it... Would be good for those close-to-death moments which your pet can help you through)
This lasts for 20seconds... 20 seconds of God Like power =-D.

Most of the other comments I found weren't helpful, procrastination and/or whining.

this will be a leet item when i get my lvl 29 gnome rogue twink. with this an the grand master, this is perfect for flag carriers. Also it would help when u get banished like before u die an u use the belt but u get banished so nothing can harm u an u have time for healers to get to u.

lol the "banishment" is not at all reliable...slim chance of it happening and a 1 HOUR cooldown..the great thing about this belt is stacking it with other damage absorbtion...defilers,arena gM.

I've used this several times and it hasn't yet "backfired" and banished me. i use this on my 29 twink, and switch back to my defiler's leather girdle asap.

I've yet to use this item, but I have read that if you are attacked, and this 'takes the hit' (if you will) that it will not interupt an ability. Because I believe I read somewhere that someones strategy was to use this and the Death Ray, if that works, that is a great strategy (if not, damn).

Can anyone confirm if this stops interuptions of spells/abilities?

the activation of the belt game mechanic wise lays a buff on you. can you then take the belt off after you cast it and actually put on a useful belt? then i could see the usefulness of it. otherwise it is a caster belt.

casters cant wear leather, if you didnt know.

my main is warlock and couldnt use this, but when i get my druid up i plan to make one of these for myself, sounds very nice, even if it has to remain equiped to keep buff on, just switch it out when buff gets beat off.

never used this before because my first engineer cant wear leather, but previous post said backfire would put banish on you for short time, so even if it backfires, that doesnt really hurt you, except maybe in pvp where players will camp you for it to fade, or if you are healer for group and it dies because you are stuck banished.

couldnt a shammie effectively use this to bubble hearth like a pally ? that would be great to be able to do that in front of a pally, im sure theyd be like "omgwtf he stole my "move""

This item is amazingly good! It has saved my life at least 5 times in the last 6 hours of game play.

The 500 HPs may not seem like much, but it is huge in a close fight, or gives just enough time to get away, or in PvP it has enabled me to overcome an undead rogue 5 levels above me.

I have yet to have it backfire, but from what I've read the backfire is a 12 second etherial form making it so no one can attack you, and you can't move or attack them.

The cool down this belt is 60 min but that is hardly a downside to be considered because it will save you hours worth of runtime over the life of the item, not to mention the repair cost on items because you will die less. My only recomendation is to carry an extra belt on you for when this item is cooling down.

If someone was debating what Gnomish Engineering item to make first, I would strongly recomend this one!

i didnt suggest trying to unequip it in combat, i meant after, duh. im aware that you cant unequip armor in combat... keep belt equiped till shield is beat off, then switch it out AFTER combat.

wanted to repost after using this device bunch of times. its very nice device and mostly relieable. it rarely absorbs the full 500dmg, but banish backfires have been rare for me. its hard to tell how much it absorbs because chat doesnt say. sometimes i can get hit only few times and it fades, other times it'll absorb whole lot of hits. but it wont always absorb 500dmg, just up to 500dmg. previous post about backfire is right for those that havent used this yet. when it backfires you will get banished for up to 20seconds, so use with caution. if you being banished would screw your group or you in a situation, have to be carefull.(like if your being only healer, or tank)

There's a lot of confusion about this currently. There are basically four types of items that can be made by engineers:

BoE items that can be used by any engineer and traded.
BoP items that can be crafted by a specific specialization, but used by any engineer
Items that require a specific specialization to use.
BoP items that can be crafted by an engineer, but can be used even after engineering is dropped

Gnomish Engineering allows you to craft these items:

If your intent is to switch to Goblin after crafting all the goodies (by dropping and re-leveling Engineering), you should probably craft all of these items, but you must craft Lunettes gnomes, Coq de combat gnome, Rayon mortel gnome, and Petit fumant (these are BoP) or you will lose access to these items permanently (unless you drop and re-level gnomish engineering again.

Transporteur ultra-sécurisé : Gadgetzan and Agrandisseur de monde cannot be used by a non-gnomish engineer, so you can skip crafting these if you're planning on switching.

NOTE: Rayon mortel gnome doesn't require Engineering to use, so technically, you could level Engineering to craft this item, and drop it and still be able to use it.

Just crafted this in classic, hoping I would be able to use the belt and then put my regular belt back on before starting a fight with a free bubble. No dice.

Removing the belt removes the buff, so you need to keep this belt equipped. Effectively, this is like a +56 stam belt that you can wear once an hour.
