Slightly more PvE-orientated version of the SotSF, though the added Stamina is a nice bonus. Very slim difference between the two, though the additional +hit% on this helps in getting to the +hit cap (16%).

This is probably the best PvE staff pre-Naxx, arguably close to the Brimstone Staff (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=22800) who drops from one of the most annoying boss in the game. The +hit is especially nice for warlocks, who do not have the luck of getting +hit talents for their destruction spells.

For me as a Frost mage this staff is much better than SotSF. That extra +%hit is more usefull than 1% crit or a little more +dmg.

Yeah, besides Naxx, this is probably one of the best staves in the game. The extra stats and hit push it above Staff of the Shadow Flame for me. It is also much easier to get (a huge plus). The only downside to it is that the +spell damage is noticeably lower.

While it is similar to the Brimstone Staff, the Brimstone Staff has so much more +spell damage.

While this staff is certainly comparable to the Staff of the Shadow Flame, it pales in comparison to anything attainable in Naxxramas. This will, however, last you until you have the opportunity to upgrade.

Well the Qlog in the screen does not say anything like this ... but still I'd like confirmation on it ... do you need any rep with anyone to get the staff? If not I'm so going for this :o

The quest turn in guys are next to C'Thun's room. Also the quest can be repeated and gives 200 BN rep.

It DOES have the 76 spell damage on it, the items were buffed from the Test Realm versions.

For the damage caster, this is mathematically the best staff in the game. First, as a warlock, I very much like the lack of Spirit and the focus on Int and Stam.

Taking a look at the equip stats, this slightly hedges out the Staff of the Shadow Flame in the damage department.

Let's take a look.

First, the straight +76 damage is the base.

Add +2% chance to hit which equates to roughly +12 damage per percent for me in a raid setting as my base Shadowbolt averages out to 1200 damage with CoS. So, the 2% equals +24 damage.

So now we're up to +100 damage even.

The +1% chance to crit (without ruin) equals a .5% increase in damage or about +6 damage.

So the total +damage added by this staff for me is around +106 damage.

Using the same math, the Staff of the Shadow Flame is

Base +84 damage + 12 damage (from 2% crit) = 96 damage. The stats are also inferior in my opinion.

With Ruin, the two staves would be as follows:

Acolyte: 76 + 24 + 12 = 112
Shadow Flame: 84 + 24 = 108

Really, unless you have more than 5% or 6% chance to hit already, this staff is slightly better than Shadow Flame.

Six regalias have dropped for us and all six went to our mages :D

So of our seven mages, 6 have this staff and 1 has the Staff of the Shadow Flame... All in the last 2.5 weeks.

Not bad considering the regalia is a 5-10% drop...

This staff is uber sexy for warlocks. The +stamina is just great. All major caster classes can also make good use of the +76 damage/healing and +%2 to hit. The increased crit chance is great for PvP too. Pretty fast compared to other staves.

I want to get this on my priest, I"m hopefully speccing shadow soon. I don't particularly like the Augur's staff compared to good ol' Benediction, but that's arguable, and it's my personal preference. I'd like this with +30 dmg/heal on it and go shadow, because it smokes Anathema in the face.
