This may seem like an excellent way to make money as an Engineer, but be warned, the materials are expensive and there ARE better bullets to be had.

The Halaani Grimshot (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=30612) and Timeless Shells (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=31735) both have superior DPS and are relatively easy to obtain.

Unless you can make these for less than 2g a stack (materials currently cost about 6g 45s on Gorefiend) you're not likely to find many buyers.

You may be able to obtain the Halaani shot fairly easy but you can only carry 200 at any one time. Kinda useless as you'll burn through those fast.
The regular vendor shot in the Outland is great. 22 and 32 added, cheap, and easy to get. No mining or crafting involved.

These bullets are going up to 43 DPS in 2.1.0. New 37 DPS bullets are going in as part of Thrallmar/Honor Hold rep rewards.

The mats for these are about 3g per stack.

The vendor bought bullets for a level 62 are Impact Shot, which cost 16 silver per stack.

So, sure, you could get 21 more dps with these, and at level 62 that's not a bad upgrade... but you're going to pay through the nose for it.

Honestly, I don't see anyone making these for anything other than to get their engineering skill up. Nobody twinks at level 62, and at level 70 you can get better ammo for cheaper.

This has always been the case with engineering ammo at every level... it's kinda good for a few levels, but it's so expensive to make that it's not worth it.

I know I will be using these bullets all the time. The mats are expensive yes, but if you're an engineer you get them just running around. I see no reason as to why no one is going to be using these donation.

The mats aren't that expensive, 1 adamantite bar is 1-2g on an avarage server these days. Elemental Blasting powder isn't that hard to make either. Netherweave.... doh. Any pre-raiding hunter should be able to get a good gun. Consortium Blaster + Adamantite Shells are already better than the worse epic bows. There drop quite some guns in Karazhan (at least 2) so getting an upgrade shouldn't be too hard.

As a mark hunter, ammo gives me like (Bullet/arrown dmg X3 - 3 or 4) so these are like 126 or 127 dps bullets

These shells are a valid option for casual use if you happen to be a miner as well as an engineer. Motes of Earth drop from Adamantite deposits, and Fel Iron deposits (which you'll find plenty of while searching for Adamantite) drop both Earth and Fire motes.

Conveniently this is also the ratio of motes you'll need to make blasting powder.

IMHO theese are only worth it if you can get the mats yourself. I get enough for one bag full (18 stacks) in about 10-15 minutes of mining in shadowmoon. Not to mention all the adamantite i find just by flying through outland. If you're a miner, totally worth it, although i recomend against using them in BG's, where the extra damage is not at all important, seeing how there are many other ppl doing damage. Totally worth it in arenas/ instances/ raids/ questing though.

Not bad at all for 2k bullets that are the best pre-kara bullets in the game.

These bullets are the best, I leveled engineering just to use them in my Don Santo's Hunting Rifle.

Until i get the rep with Thrall/HH. I supplement with the https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=30612
The shells can get a little expensive just for questing/grinding.

You get this schematic from Wind Trader Lathrai in Shattrath, among others.

Like most engie bullets, it's pointless for resale, probably good for leveling your engineering (I have the schematic but can't make them just yet, don't know how quickly they pass into yellow and green).

getting revered is a must if you plan to progress thru 25mans, so buying the ammo from cenarion expedition is much cheaper than the crafted ones.

ps: 375 eng. on kargath with about every recpie horde side. pst to thunderheart if you need anything made. only missing scope from molten core and waiting for the karazhan drop... grrr.

It's true that with the market prices of Adamantite bars and motes of fire/earth it's damn expensive to use these bullets, but hey since 2.1 that's the price for wearing the 2nd best ammo of the game from as early as level 62 without any rep requirement.

The warden's arrows are nice so is the ammo from HH/Thralmar that u can get with revered rep, they're much cheaper but u need to go through rev attain a level req and they provide substantially less dps.

So it's a matter of willingness to pay the price for having the best dps available for a (gun) hunter before u can get ur hands into the epic ammo of the scale of the sands. But indeed it's damn expensive.

On Kargath, these are often on the AH for 1+ gold a stack, the arrows cost 40s a stack. Blizzard should kill this schematic and make it a reward from a faction like Consortium at a price of 40s per stack... Oh well

This is why I will not be using a gun anytime soon, at least if it is not ridiculously better then the 62 DPS one I currently use.

Ok before you have the Rev Rep with CE use a gun and pay the crazy price for these, but when you get the Rev Rep with CE save a ton of gold by using a bow or x-bow.

Ironbite Shell, storebought: adds 32dps

Adamantite Shell, player made, 37 dps.

And before BC, thorium shells were more expensive to obtain than storebought ammo and did less damage.

Aye, Blizz might have not given Engineering its true justice but kudos to them for making it useful to hunters :-)

Still worse than Timeless Shell, but far better than before:
Damage: increased from 37 to 43 dps
Cost: (detailing components for the blasting powder) was 4 Adamantite Ore, 1/2 Mote of Earth and 1/2 Mote of Fire, now 2 Adamantite Ore, 1/2 Mote of Earth and 1/4 Mote of Fire. On my server, this translates from 4g75s before to 2g25s, less than half cost! (adamantite was going at 30g/20 bars, motes of earth at 40-50s each and fires at 3g). Of course, if you mine the mats you get them free. I use to keep a stack of those on my inventory (gnome rogue): whenever a mob attempts to run away, I often have time for one shot only, so I must take the most of that shot (this is, take the mob down before it comes back with friends).
However, I must complain. If blizzard gave us engineers something better than the timeless to craft, or removed them, we'd be able to trade bullets, evening a bit the tables... every other crafting (this is non-gathering) profession has at least one (normally more) item that can be useful to any player, even those wearing tier20 (I know there is no tier20, but you get the idea): everybody needs health and other pots, alchemysts have a bussiness. Everybody needs bags and sacks: tailors check, leatherworkers check. Almost all weapons and armor can be enchanted (including tier5 armor, legendary weapons, or even Martin Thunder), so enchanters check. But what can we engineers sell to afford our potions, enchants and so on? Ez-thro? Squirrels? Tranquil yetis? We are left with just scopes, and the only scopes people is willing to pay for (Khorium Scope and Stabilized Adamantite Scope) are ridiculous drops recipes (for the stabilized one, you should run Karazhan 200 times, average, or several hundreds if you are unlucky or you're competing with any other engineer).
So, we engineers are only the best ones to craft completely useless items. Should I laugh or cry?
Ok, so blizz has made one step on the good direction; I hope we don't need to wait for another major patch to get what we deserve (or at least, part of it).
An additional note for non-hunters, specially for everyone who only uses ranged to pull and take cowards down: the SLOWER the gun, the BETTER! At least for pulls: no matter how fast is the gun, you'll only have time for one shot when pulling something: if the shot is 1sec, you're getting 43 damage from the bullet, if it's 3sec, you're getting 129 damage. If you score a criticall, you get 258 damage, which is pretty nice for a warrior to do BEFORE reaching the target.

For ages it was actually unbalanced in favour of arrow users. You could buy Warden's arrow from a vendor at 37 dps for a few silver. Gun users had to make do with Ironbite shells at 32 dps.

Quit whining. Bow users had it easy for so long. Epic bow quest for Rhok? WTF, where is the epic gun equivalent? Finally in TBC there are some guns around and all the bow users are crying their hearts out.

HUNTERS:
I put in a suggestion and a ticket already to have Blizz make an NPC to turn in the Adamantite shells to convert to arrows.
There is no reason not to have one as having one will only make Engineers make a bit more money and bow/crossbow users able to use the same dps arrows.
When I use my Sunfury bow with Warden's arrows it is 47 paper doll dps less than using the Wolfslayer sniper rifle with Adamantite shells.

I suggest you all go to the suggestion wow forums and post a suggestion for them to make this NPC.
They do read this stuff but noone is asking for it.
The more that ask the more chance there is for it to happen.

Also, though no one has brought it up, you can get Felbane Slugs from HH rev rep for 45s per 200. They have the same damage as the Warden Arrows. No need to pay 3g per stack of ammo for 6 more damage unless you really want to. And if you do and are on the Argent Dawn server, I'd be glad to sell them to you.

uhh whats this, "bow users stop crying now gun users have it good".... lol? im a hunter and i know alot of ppl who try to stick to one ranged wepon but, all 3 of my ranged wepon skills (excluding thrown) are at 350.

Why? because ive always switched to the better weapon or in many cases the weapon that fits my style better.

ive been running kara for a bit and have gotten all three ranged wepons from there at one point or another.(my guild is on BT and Hyjial trash so i get nearly anything i want in kara runs) and i like all three of them.

i find it sad that i rarely take out the sunfury bow of the phoenix because my wolfslayer sniper rifle paired with these bullets does much more damage.

Because of these reasons they should defenetly implement a transfer npc because after kara, the only hunter stat gun is from tempest keep the eye, and the 3 best ranged wepons in the game are, 2 bows and a crossbow, somethings gotta give.

Its not the bow users that are missin out really. Its the engis , really we dont make near as much money as other professions..../sigh... If you could turn em into arrows it would largen the sale of the bullets
