A good place to farm these is the Forge Camp: Wrath in western area of Blade's Edge Mountains (accessible only by flying). The wrath hounds there are relatively easy to kill, there's plenty of them and you don't have to kill anything else but the hounds.

Warp Chasers in Netherstorm at the tempest rift (68,60) have a 14.8% chance to drop them when skinned.

Went to forge Camp Wrath. surrounded by elites and tons of mobs. I'd suggest being well geared or bring a friend.

Good spot I found happened to be at Arklon Ruins in Netherstorm. The fel hounds have a good drop rate of fel hide, and at the same time drop marks and fel armaments for Aldor. Within a half an hour I got:
9 fel hide
4 fel armament
15 marks
16 knothide
55 scraps

That's strange. I am still in Hellfire, and I've been farming Helboars- I've gotten 15 Fel Hides in two hours- after being there for two levels i've farmed and sold about 30 Fel Hides.

the Arifact Seekers in Arklon Ruins in Netherstorm are quite good, especially due to the aldor rep drops, but there are quite a few of the other big demons patrolling around, and in terms of fel hide, they are completely useless, just be careful of that, otherwise still a good spot.

(as a level 70 hunter) i found the Blackwind Warp Stalker ideal to farm, because they also drop Warped Flesh which i use for my Food, and i have to be there anyway because of the Skettis quest.

I found the Arklon Ruins to be a good spot as well; the fel hounds were plentiful (enough) and in a small area. They didn't drop any frivolous greys to fill up my inventory, and I sold the Marks of Sargeras I got. It's even better for Aldor skinners because of this.

I'd say the easiest way to get a lot of fel leather quickly is, if you have a flying mount, go to forge camp wrath in Blades Edge Mountains and skin the corpses of the Wrath Hounds that people killed from their daily quests.

The artifact seekers at Arklon Ruins are annoying for casters since they mana burn, so I went onto the Warp Chasers also in Netherstorm. The drop rate should be the same.

Not sure how they get the "Top three percentages" now, but if you "Show" Blade's Edge Mountains, clearly the Daggertail Lizard: 10.13% is the top percentage.

I farm mine around 41,71 netherstorm, Get em off the fel hound dudes

drop rate is around 30% for skinning. I killed 18 I got 5.

I tried farming the fel hounds in Netherstorm, but I had little success (about one fel hide for 15 kills).

I then went to the area around Forge Camp Wrath in northwestern Blade's Edge (around 34,40) and grinded them off the wrath hounds. Be careful, as the whole area is filled with level 70+ mobs.

Anyway, the drop rate was much better.

Good place to grind Fel Hide is at the Arklon Ruins in Netherstorm. Kill the Artifact Seekers. Easy to kill mobs, they cast Mana Burn and Spell Lock.

im 90% sure that i found 3 off the Ravager beasts in Hellfire, if not it must be the boars'bad memory', and from skinning lvl 60-67 thats all i have found

I'll be farming fel hides in Blade's Edge Mountain killing the wrath hounds for a good portion of the day today. So far i've killed 21 and no hide has been skinned as of yet. I'll update later after i've killed atleast 100.

Ok here is the update. 130 give or take a couple killed and i've gotten 13 fel hide so far. So basically the drop rate off the wrath hounds in Blade's Edge Mountain is 10% and not 33% like it says.

well i got 3 fel hides from skinning 8 deranged boars in hellfire so i don't know what thottbot goes by. just lucky i guess

Just finished a Quest in Netherstorm dropped 3 felhides off 8 warp stalkers at 55,69

Just a shot in the dark I guess, but WoW logic tells me that higher lvl mobs got higher droprate. That's how it usually is with everything else. However, I do not intend to skin every mob that drops it to find out.

i havnt tried farming them yet but i just had one drop off a warp stalker in terokkar so maybe thats a could place do farm idk

I have been farming helboars in hellfire for quite some time. Killed 212 boars and hide only dropped 5 times.
Is there a mob with a higher drop rate? I'll never level my leather farming at this rate.

The Arklon Ruins in Netherstorm was a very successful grinding spot for me. I was there for about two hours and came out with...

-24 Fel Hides
-6 Fel Armaments
-53 Mark of Sargeras's

Plus lots of various greens and lots of Knothide leather.

Netherstorm - Artifact Seekers...I killed 5 and i skinned for ME 375 skinning it skinned out 4 times. BTW they are easy to kill so im having a good time farming :D

Drop a lot 4 in 10 min or something... and really easy to kill, kill doomguards aswell while there drop alot netherweave cloth ;d

I have had a few drop while grinding boars around honor hold. No numbers on how many i killed but does not drop often off of 58 - 61 critters.

I farm these off the two-headed demon dogs in the northern Forge Camp of Blade's Edge, up from Ogri-la.

It gives me something to do and extra cash while I'm doing the daily quests. As an added bonus, everyone else kills these dogs while they are doing the dailies and leaves the corpse behind for you to skin. Yesterday I picked up 10 fel hides in less than 5 minutes, as well as plenty of knothides.

Don't let anyone tell you skinning doesn't make money!

Have picked up 5 off hellboars in Outland just skinning wandering kills while levelling 58-61, so drop rate at this level seems ok for an item i still dont need for lw recipes.

The hounds at Arklon Ruins like to Mana Burn. No prob for rogues, but an annoyance for hunters. Even if you're quick to FD or have the BM pet stun, you will get nailed a few times. This version of the spell also takes a chunk of your health as well.

I recommend just killing fel boars if you're a hunter. Max out your pet's fire resist to offset their mirror damage. Shadowmoon is a good place. The area around the Death Forge is crawling with them.

do leather workers actually have a decent need of these? I know they are used in lots of stuff but is it stuff that is made regularly or not Because i have a ton of fel hide and i rarely see them on the ah and when i put them up for much cheaper than the ah prices they still don't sell0_o

No doubt. Spent a good hour farming up North of Ogri'la. Must've killed at least 30 of those 2headed felhounds. 1 dropped. Bag full of apexis shards. :( Went down to Arklon Ruins in Netherstorm, spent half an hour, got 6, plus 16 marks of sageras, 1 fel armament, and 2 greens. **Had some trouble at the start (I'm a hunter and they mana burn), switched pets to my boar, ran up in there, and didn't get burned again. God I love my pig. **

the ravagers of hellfire near the path to zangar are the best for general farming I have ever seen(for leatherworking that is). They drop scraps, knothide leather, fel scales, fel hides, and crystal infused leather, and all of this is at a very good drop rate, yeah there are probably other mobs with slightly better drop rates on a specific item mentioned above, but I'd bet cold hard cash that nothing else in outland drops ALL of it at such a good drop rate, not to mention they're lvl 60-63 kills, therefore they are fast kills.

Based on the comments above, I decided to get on my 68 hunter and hit Arklon for the fel hide and the marks of sargares also. I've only been here 20min, but i have a couple observations to add

1) Artifact Seeker (fel hound) mana burn seems to be on a timer rather than a spell cast when remaining health reaches a certain %. I noticed that if I started attacking as soon as my pet (ravager) did first attack, I could dps down the fel hound before he would even start to cast mana burn. Even though I would use a lot of mana using abilities, was coming out with more mana than if mana burn got me.

2) Fel Hide skin drop rate isn't that impressive yet. Only 1 so far out of around 30 kills. Maybe just my bad luck.

3) Marks of sargaras and fel armaments drop rate pretty good, 10 marks and 3 armaments already.

I finished up grinding for about 1h30min
39 marks of sargaras
17 fel hide
6 fel armaments

As a hunter, there's a couple tricks to dealing with mana burn that worked really well for me. If you find you didn't dps fast enough and you see mana burn start to cast (assuming you use cast bar) you can try to kill him if you think you'll be able to before he gets it off, or you can feign death. FD has 30sec CD so no problem to use this regularly.

Just killed 248 boars level 58-61 in hellfire to level my skinning from 300-342.

13 Fel hide = 5%
180 Knothide leather scraps = 72%
55 Knothide leather = 22%

Numbers w/ scraps and reg leather varied some b/w starving helboars and deranged (the higher) with the starving droping more scraps than the deranged. Fel hide percentages were the same for both but not enough killed for a very good estimate.

arklon ruins has been pretty good for me.

This is for other skinners having trouble with the mana burn.
It is possible to LOS out of being mana burned.
As a resto druid, I can not dps fast enough and have trouble with farming. starfire pull, wrath/moonfire before rooting them, then duck behind the ruins walls as soon as mana burn starts getting cast (looks like a 3sec. cast giving you enough time to duck out)
