From 2.4 patch notes;

Idol of Ursoc: The bonus damage to Lacerate has been increased and the tooltip clarified to indicate it applies to both initial and periodic damage.

Its going to be interesting to see how this will compare to the Idol of Terror for tanking when the patch hits.

The macro /cast spell /equip idol will swap your idols avoiding global cooldown. However, it looks like not all the spells get the benefit from the first cast. For instance, if you use

#showtooltip Lifebloom
/cast Lifebloom
/equip Idol of the Emerald Queen

and press that macro three consecutive times, you won't get the healing increase the first time, but you will do the second and third (since the idol is equiped). I've been testing the idols I have and here's the result:

Idols that grant the benefit since the first cast:

- Idol of the Emerald Queen: https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=27886
- Harold's Rejuvenating Broach: https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=25643
- Everbloom Idol: https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=29390 -> some further testing must be done.

Also note that if the spell/ability is not cast, the idol swapping will occur. So try to be sure that you have mana/energy, the ability is not on cooldown and you're at range.

If anybody can share their tests, I will update this post.

with this idol your lacerate will tick 40 dmg more

but for tanking i think that the migration of terror is much better than the very minor increase in threat this gives

dont compare this to terror, id suggest you compare this to idol of the wild

although i do find the laccerate ability extremely useful, i have no idea how effective this extremely small buff to the ability would be. unless that tiny amount of extra damage per application would be equivalent to a large threat increase, im not interested.

Drops off first boss in Underbog Heroic. The pull right before him is nasty!

do the math. it is not good at all. for tanking idol of brutality or idol of the wild is WAY better. way too much math and discussion has been done on the issue...

BUT...

you can equip it at the begining of a boss fight, lacerate till you have 5 stacks, equip one of the above listed idols, and you will keep the bonus damage to lacerate.

not big, but useful.

To clear things out, idols can be switched in and out during combat, only triggers the global c/d, a good way to make this idol useful without sacrificing threat, is to equip it prior to engaging the boss, then put ur 5 stacks of lacerate, the switch to wild/brutality, as long as you keep refreshing the lacerate, the bonus dmg will remain.
