I just acquired the transporter today and 'just' used and I got a debuff that lasts for sixty (60) minutes.

The description is as follows:

Transporter Malfunction
Looks like your pattern matrix got mixed up with the last person to use the transporter pad.

I changed from a male tauren to an orc female. Further investigation is needed if the server realizes who the last person to use the transporter or if it just uses a random skin available to your allegiance (ergo alliance or horde). Also, upon mouse over you still appear as the race you were previously but any emotions like /silly or /flirt represent your new skin. The debuff persists through death so no need to worry if it's something you want to keep but if it isn't.. well.. it's sixty minutes.

Shapeshifting for a druid kills ALL the illusion effects, including the good/evil ones. Stupid. :(

I just used it and after so many times of teleporting to Area 52, it's the first time I encounter this kind of debuff :

"Evil Twin : You have been replaced by your evil twin".

So far, I've seen no changes to my character, it's like going all normal on me.

The debuff lasts for 2 hours instead of 1 hour like almost all debuffs you get from the teleporter. Information about it, anyone?

This by far is one of my fav engineering trinkets... (rocket launcher is a tough comparsion too ><) but i have witness the following effects by being a mage i use this port every chance i get:

Transporter Malfuction:
Alliance version: Night elf male, Gnome Female, Draenei Female, and Dwarf Male
Horde version: Troll Male, Blood Elf Female, Orc Female, and Tauren Male
(Btw I am human, results may vary by race)

Evil Twin:
See no real effect other than an excuse to be a jerk XD

Soul Split: Good
Being all Yellow and translucent

Also Stranded in the Sky:
This happens when your on a rock high above area 52 no big deal if your 70 and you have a flying mount, only reason i survived (first happened at 68) was because i am an ice mage and had some light feathers or something called ice block >.> <.<

Those are all i remember the names but i also believe there was a shrinking effect much like noggenfogger but i am not sure... kinda wish the debuff would last longer or happen more often... 3hr cooldown ftl

Here's something slightly interesting:

The Transporter Malfunction debuff turns you into a different race of your own faction. However, if you can contrive to get the debuff twice (by using the device, logging out for > 4 hours, then using it again) you will have 2 debuffs, which for some reason changes you into a race from the opposite faction.

If a warrior has the transform effect he can change into a different race each time he switches between Battle, Berserker and Defensive Stance. (Flipout Pirate does the same thing iirc)

My character's a male dwarf, I've switched to Male Tauren, Female Orc, Male Troll and my fave, Blood Elf Female.

A shame Blood Elves cant be warriors, they look great as em!

If your Alliance, you can make it turn you into the Horde versions by using the Transporter while under the effect of something like Savory Deviate Delight. Might work for Horde too, as well as other similar effects - Dartol's Rod, or Orb of Deception.

I have made this trinket, and I have used it 3 times without getting any debuff, can any1 tell me why and is any1 else not getting any debuff also? Please answer :P

Some tricks I've learned in the few weeks I've been using my trinket:

1) Logging out "safely" in a town or inn will cause the debuffs such as race-switching or size-changing to tick down while offline. (Like BG deserter)

2) Logging out outside of a town or inn (with the 20 second timer) will cause the debuffs to remain on you until you log back in. (like any self-buff)

3) You can have multiple versions of the debuffs on you at the same time, however one version of race-changing debuff will always be what you get. (For me the Alliance version would always override the Horde version).

4) Dying under a race transformation debuff and logging out will keep your new race model, but wil apply your "natural" skin, leading to very mutated-looking corpses.

Does anyone know if you can have more than one of these , also if you can, do they share the same cooldown? Just curious because it would be worth it (to me) to have the constant horde effect seeing as im a night elf warrior (made it at relase of the original wow) and really hate my class. /cry, tauren warriors in arena gear look so badass.

I've also noticed that the one that changes your race/gender one changes whichever it is when you walk into an instance, I started as a tauren male when I used it, I got the BE female one, I walked into an instance and I got the troll one.

Don't know if it's been said, but in regards to the debuff that turns you into a member of the opposing faction; as a rogue, you can change your race constantly by stealthing. This is a weird longstanding bug that seems to affect all multi-transforming effects.

I had some fun in Orgrimmar the other day with this debuff and a few stacked growth effects (3 to be exact). Standing on the mailbox constantly changing between a giant female draenie to a female gnome, male dwarf, and male NE. Needless to say, I got a few looks.

Having a second hearth to Outland is enough reason to justify crafting this thing, but the debuffs just add a whole lot of ridiculous fun to it. Engineering ftw pretty much.

This is my favourite Engineering-item, not cause of the teleportation to Area 52, but simply because the "dot" that makes you transform into another race. And since im a rogue i change race when stealthing. This rocks!

Engineers who took the time to gather the 350 Fire Blossoms needed for the will be happy to know that you can change races by dropping it and dancing with it. Each time you stop dancing to cancel the flame effect, you will emerge as a different race.

Also, as clarification: There is an Alliance race version, and a Horde race version. If you get the Alliance race version, doing anything (like stealthing/unsteathing, zoning, or using the Brazier) will only switch you between the four respective races for that debuff. Thus, you cannot go from Gnome to Tauren, ect.

Malfunctioned twice the first time I was given the Evil Twin Buff, and the second time I was transformed into a Tauren, with the buff:

So far malfunctions have included:

Soul Split: Good (only half your soul came through as a result of the transportation process) Turned me slightly transparent - slow as hell and slightly bigger - did not seem to effect my stats. 60 minutes

Pattern Matrix Malfunction: My Troll became a night elf ala' Orb of Deception - 60 minutes.

Pattern Matrix Malfunstion: "You feel larger somehow" - made me 20% larger - 60 min.

Oopsie Whoopsie: Transported me to a flying rock - about, oh, 1 mile above Area 52 - move an inch to the left or right and you fall. Lucky for me I am level 70 with a flying mount....

The Gnomish version is annoying for the Horde - since it is RIGHT NEXT to Toshly station - but the porter' and technican are far enough away from the guards to be safe - once you reach Engineering 350 you can talk to either teleporter technician and get the recipie for free (depending on your goblin/gnomish specality, of course)

It seems to malfunction about 50% of the time ... good luck !

If you use Dimensional Ripper - Area 52 and it transports you the rock way above the city and you don't have a flying mount this is what you do. Take off all of your armor that can fit in your bags and jump. It will have you tons on your repair bill.

Silly question. Does "Requires Engineering (350)" mean that it requires that to make one or to use it? It's "bind on use", and I'm curious if other professions can use it as well.

As a rogue, I got the buff that turns you into something else. Normally a human female rogue, I turned into a Draenei female, and noticed that going in and out of stealth will keep changing me. I was only able to get Draenei female, Night Elf male, Dwarf male, and Gnome female. I've heard of others turning into races of the other faction, never happened to me though.

This has a chance to backfire, causing some strange effects.

My Orc was changed into a Night Elf for one hour. It was an undispellable debuff that persisted through death; I had a lot of fun PvPing with it, throwing people of both factions for a loop.

Also one of the effects is you teleport 2000yards above The Heap, which = death if you fall off + dont hearth/have a flying mount.

I used my Area 52 ripper for the first time last night. It worked safely but my body got a bit mixed up with the previous users. I ended up being any Horde player other than my undead self and the type of character changed every time I went into our out of stealth. For that one hour, my character changed from male troll to female orc to male tauren to female blood elf, over and over again. It was actually kind of funny and no harm was done - this time.

Ever seen a Tauren rogue? I was one, they're huge!

New wrinkle on the Area 52 ripper. This time, it teleported me on top of this rock floating way, way, way the F above the town! If you look up in Area 52, you'll see these floating rocks way up in the sky. I think I was standing on top of the highest one there.

So, there I was, standing on this rock, with no flying mount or anything else to get me down. I got a couple of screenshots of my lvl 68 rogue standing there. I was so high up that my lvl 70 friend had to really climb just to find (and laugh at) me.

Obviously, I could have hearthed somewhere else but I wanted to be in Area 52. So, I tried to jump down to other floating rocks below me but I finally ran out of luck when I ran out of targets. Eventually, I slipped and fell while trying to find a way down that probably doesn't exist. It was a LONG fall to the ground and the deceleration trauma from the impact was fatal. Good thing I'm an engineer, I'm going to start carrying my parachute cloak again, at least until I hit lvl 70 and can get my flying mount:-)

If you are a goblin engineer, and have the required level of engineering, all you have to do is talk to the goblin (Kablam Farflinger) at the transporter in Area 52 and then check your eng skills and you will find it has been auto-added to the list. (Same as the first ripper was). Did it yesterday and was a littled puzzled until I remembered the last one and checked my eng list. (Only came looking here because my roomie was trying to find out if there was a Gnomish Transporter for Area 52 as well). The answer to that is NO. Btw, the transporter engineers here have some really fun quests, if you start them at the recommended 64, put your rocket boots on, you might get out alive :)

I have this for my rogue and whenever i stealth or load through another area i change appearance im a Undead Male and i change into Female Dranei, Male Dwarf, Female Gnome, and Male Night Elf. This thing is fun in BGs and you get tons of funny ass comments from people in your main cities

Also I changed into horde characters as well. It seems it has 2 different sets of shape shifting, a horde and alliance set but thats all i know of now

Shapeshifting debuff FTW

I always port to Area 52 just to try to get the debuff for BGs. I love it when alliance ride past me only to back up slowly and wonder why there's a huge ass Tauren or a Bloodelf hunter chick on their team.

Also, it scared the !@#$ out of me the day I got ported to a rock 5 miles above Area 52. Watch your step after porting is all I have to say.

I currently have 7 debuffs on me now just loggoff when you used the trinket and log back after 4 hours

This is an absolute hoot.
The chance of mafunction seems to be much higher on this than on the Everlook one but the chance it will kill you is much lower.

You can be transformed to any race. I am a human and have been Dwarf, Gnome, Blood Elf, Night Elf, Troll, Tauren, Draenae. Not undead yet but I'm sure it's there.
One amusing factor is that your clothes don't shrink/grow to fit fully so the Gnome has ridiculously oversized boots, etc whereas the Tauren looks like he is about to burst his.
As for when you are on your mount? The Gnome is lost on my Paly Charger but the Tauren looks like he is breaking my Griffon's back!

Effect changes every time you portal, HS or log off

Of the other transformations, have a look a your stats when transformed.
Feeling larger - increases strength
Feeling smaller - increases agility
Soul Split, Good - Inceases healing
Soul Split, Dark - decreases healing
I think all actually have ups and downs and vary according to class.

So after much time of testing and 4 chars on testserver with area 52 ripper, i had enough material to test this ripper out. All you need to know is u can stack every debuff, you have about a 50% chance to get one out of 8 malfunctions. Cooldown 4h

1.Oversize
2.Shrink
3.Horde gen trans.
4.Ally gen trans.
5.good soul
6.evil soul
7.evil twin (nothing happens and fades after death)
8.Spawn 1km above Area 52

Especially funny was evil soul debuff + Horde Gen transform + Oversize. due the fact that all these debuffs give bigger modelsize, as Tauren ur are reeeally big! I cant find any screenshots of this, but it was awesome everyone was just "WoW wtf is this" :)

And what i really liked, that i could change trough the races with a simple stance switch, so i was very happy that i could play a bloodelf Warrior. I took a picture with the old PvP Set and S2. Blood Elf Warrior are rare :D !

Someone Polymorphed me and dispelled the cool effects like evil twin and character switch. Druid/Shaman shape shifting also dispels the effects.

I found that if you have the debuff that changes your race,
warriors can change the race by switching stances.
Not sure about other players, but as an Undead warrior,
I can choose between male night elf, male dwarf, female draenei
and female gnome.

Also, if you enter/leave battlegrounds, you'll keep the same debuff, but change race. Mine cycles through female gnome,male dwarf and male nightelf so far. yet to see a human hunter though =[

You can stack debuffs and become huge.

I forgot what debuffs were used. I think the enlarging debuff, the horde debuff for the tauren, with elixir of giant growth. The tauren model enlarges the elekks size.

I wish I took a picture of myself with 3 defuffs instead of just two. I also forgot about heroism. :(

To stack debuffs, you must log out for 4 hours. An engineering alt, an alt to play on, or if your just gonna go out for over 4 hours would make this trick more worth it. It needs alot of luck so I wouldn't do this if your main is the engineer, you'd have to wait long periods of time.

One more thing to note: the debuffs last a certain period of time when logged out, I did one before bed time then woke up with no debuffs quite a few times.
