In this zone preview, we're previewing some of the cool rare spawns and loot you can find, as well as screenshots of iconc parts of the zone and their quest lines.

Rare Spawns, Vignettes, Loot
Introduced in 5.4 on the Timeless Isle, Vignettes and rare spawns are making an increased appearance in
. Players can find a number of rare spawns with unique loot drops (marked by a skull on your minimap) as well as special treasure chests or events (marked by a sword).
As an additional twist, these rare spawns only sometimes show up as a silver elite. If you search for
under the Draenor > Frostfire Ridge section of our Warlords of Draenor quest database, you can get a sense of the types of rare spawns and events available.
Here are some of the more interesting rare spawns and events:
is a touching reward given to you by an old orc after you defend his house from an invasion. You also get a
If you are reading this, then you have completed the rite of om'riggor. You are no longer a child. You are a warrior.
This trinket belonged to your mother, rest her spirit. She never got to meet you, but she loved you with all her heart.
Her memory kept me safe in countless battles - kept me coming home so I could raise you into the orc you are today.
Take it with you, that you may serve our clan with honor.

is frozen in ice. If you click on her, you receive
, to give to the token of your affection. There is probably a similar tragic event for

Another dull day at Stonefang outpost. As I stare across the flats, I cannot help but think of you. Do you remember the day we met? I hurled my axe at your mount, and you nearly impaled me with a spear.

If you fish in the special pool for
, you'll loot a

, which turns you sparkly for 5 minutes and can be reused every hour.
--currently it has no use effect, but the flavor text reads "PH: Turn your breath to ice."
Over by the Circle of Blood, there are two fun items for players. Looting
from a war horn on the arena's balcony will summon two ogres that fight. If you continue around the perimeter of the arena, you'll be able to jump onto a spectator's chair, complete with an umbrella and alcohol. Clicking on the nearby chest rewards you with a stack of alcohol and
, which really does disappear from your bags after 5 minutes!
Found in a well by the cultists, there's a new
that gives you a "Lucky" buff.
is a level 100 elite, but can be killed at 90. He periodically wants to feed on ogres that are wandering nearby. When each ogre is killed, drag it to
. After 10 ogres are killed, he will be fed and belch out
Gutstone of the Devourer
has a unique model and is a reward from a jumping game.
Clicking on a
summons a cloaked figure surrounded by brightly-colored flowers. This figure gives a flower to an orc, who then screams and falls to the ground. We tried this across several characters, and the poisoned orcs varied each time. Perhaps it's tied to
: When clicking on this ice block, several ice elementals will spawn. Defeat them, and you can loot the trinket
which summons a frosty guardian.
is a daily fishing quest given by your Garrison.
is a rare fishing-themed spawn that drops lots of
to quickly finish the quest.
Down by the ocean, you can loot a chest that contains
. This journal details the savagery of the orc clans.
A particularly challenging rare spawn is
, which is summoned by a stone next to lava. He's surrounded by rocks--if you stand on a rock, you'll deal more damage to him, but when he casts fire on a rock, it submerges it. Lava tickets are pretty deadly now, so you don't want to be standing in the lava either. He drops the sweet trinket
There are also rare spawns that drop more traditional loot, such as the ones below. Note that items still show Readiness as a stat even though its removal was announced because Blizzard did not update their item data yet:
This achievement rewards players for participating in various quirky vignettes. There are may more vignettes in Frostfire Ridge--this is just a taste.
There are six major storylines in Frostfire Ridge that count for this achievement:
Foothold in a Savage Land
covers the quest series required to initially build your Garrison and send a follower out on a mission.
Siege of Bladespire Fortress
covers the Frostwolf's reclaiming of Bladespire Fortress.
Defense of Wor'gol
covers the Thunderlord Clan's attack on the town.
covers how Durotan's brother sought vengeance against the Iron Wolf.
Beneath Thunder's Fall
tracks the efforts of Lokra to rescue her husband Karg.
The Battle of Thunder Pass
covers an attack on your Garrison as well as Draka and Drek'Thar's attempts to free one of the elements.
In addition, there is another important questline towards the north where Khadgar and a night elf Warden work with the Frostwolves to reduce the demonic presence led by Gul'dan.
