You can also find these throughout the new zone "Dalmasca" in a new expansion for WoW called "Final Fantasy 12". In Dalmasca they spell it without the "r" (Nethecite).

These veins are great, as they contain pretty much the same added objects as a fel iron vein. In my first day of mining these I got (besides the 40 ore) 9 motes of fire, 18 motes of earth, and a Nightseye gem.

The easiest thing I found was just to remove all my armor, drop down and mine, and if I get spotted just to die and fly back.

I love this quest, as after talking to a buddy with skinning, he mentioned he'd killed about 150 mobs to get enough leather... This took me about 20 minutes to get the 40 ore. I'll probably spend a few hours farming these and just stocking up for future days.

This ore is easy enough to farm for that I'm doubtful you could get much of a return for it on the Auction House. Especially once you get to Friendly and the quests in the mine open up you will run into veins all over the place.

I noticed if you mine a nethercite vein by one of the groups of Dragonmaw Peons, they make an aggro sound and say something in Orcish. Any hordies willing to translate, just out of curiosity?

Gunnbritt was right, you CAN get Nethercite Ore from https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=32724 even when you don't have mining. I got 2 ore from the object, as a skinner/leatherworker.

I reached exalted with netherwing some time ago after a lot of questing and mining of nethercite, during that time i did get the odd blue item gem. I have just been into the mines today 2nd day after 2.4 released to see if nether residue is able to drop from the nodes and from mining 6 nodes i found 1 noble topaz, 1 talasite and 2 star of elune. One node produced 2 of the gems in the same loot, but no residue, luck or higher drop rate since patch 2.4 ? Incidently I continued to mine several nodes outside of the mines and recieved only normal loot.

Edit... The nodes outside the mines are yielding high too, i usually get 3 or 4 if not more while doing the daily quests ..... 1 week now since 2.4 came out and also after the 1st update was released

Jewel crafters tell me that this can not be prospected... and you can only turn it in if you mine... and if you mine then you would have a chance at finding eggs with the ore not to mention motes... so why would anyone buy this off the AH?

no u cant prospect it just for daily quest but people do buy it off the AH not sure y since only miners can do the quest as far as i know maybe they are just lazy lmfao

i cant mine this, do you have to have epic flying skill, cause thats the requirements to get the quest besides the prequest, it doesnt even show up on my mining sensor

I am 375 miner also. do you have to have netherwing riding skill to get. does not show on mining sensor

Nethercite Ore is only used in a quest, which happens to be a Netherwing quest. Therefore, you need to have 300 riding skill (as well as finished the pre-quests) in order to mine this.

Does anyone know if you can still mine these once you get to exalted?

They drop motes of fire, motes of earth, and of course a chance for gems; given how many of them there are, it's the best way I've found to get motes of fire for quite awhile.
